I'm a portrait and editorial photographer based in Austin, working mostly with independent musicians, small businesses, and couples who want their photos to feel like them rather than a template. I trained as a photojournalist before moving into portrait and event work, and that instinct for catching real moments instead of posed ones still shapes everything I shoot. When I'm not on a shoot I'm usually teaching a weekend film-photography workshop out of my studio.
Work Experience
Asha Designs Photography
Run an independent studio specializing in editorial portraits, album cover shoots, and small-business branding photography. Booked over 120 sessions in the last year alone, with repeat clients making up nearly half of new bookings.
Austin Weekly Chronicle
Covered breaking news, local elections, and feature stories for a mid-size alt-weekly, shooting under tight deadlines and often filing same-day. Photos were syndicated to two regional papers.
Blackline Studio Rentals
Assisted visiting photographers with lighting setup, equipment maintenance, and client scheduling at a shared commercial studio space.
Projects
Neon Hours
A yearlong series photographing Austin's late-night music venues and the performers who keep them running, exhibited at a local gallery in 2023.
Corner Store Portraits
A community project photographing longtime owners of family-run corner stores across East Austin before a wave of redevelopment, paired with short oral histories.
